Daisen Summer Mountain Climb

Gyōja‑dani Trail

Its appearance changes depending on the direction you view it from.
Its ever‑changing form is what defines Daisen.

Daisen has entered its peak climbing season, and many visitors come each day to make their way to the summit.
There are two main routes to the summit.

The two routes merge just above the fifth station, so you can take one route up and the other on your way down.

Ogamiyama Shrine’s Okumiya isGyōja‑dani Traillocated along the way.
Along the way, you’ll come face‑to‑face with the powerful north face of Daisen.
Motodania scenic route that passes through Motodani.
As its name suggests, this path was once used by ascetic practitioners of the Daisen faith.
We encourage you to consider taking it either on your way up or on your way down.

When climbing Mt. Daisen, please be sure to visit the Okumiya of Ogamiyama Shrine.

As a memento of your climb or visit,you may wish to receive a goshuin,a special seal offered at Ogamiyama Shrine.

Even if you do not have a goshuin book, we also offer them on paper.
Please speak to the staff at the Okumiya amulet office.
